Tuina has been used in China for over 2000 years to realign musculoskeletal and ligamentous relationships as well as establish harmonious flow of energy through the body. This is accomplished through the use of various hand techniques and manipulations including (but not limited to) kneading, rolling, pressing, stretching, pushing and grasping. A Zen shiatsu treatment uses the theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine to relieve stress, muscular tension, aches, pains while balancing the body's delicate energetic system through the manipulation of meridians (energy conduits that run throughout the body). Thai Bodywork is based in Ayurvedic medicine, Buddhist spiritual practice and yoga. It uses a combination of rocking, stretching and acupressure to loosen and open joints, stretch muscles and tone internal organs. Tuina, Shiatsu and Thai techniques are used in a treatment to induce deep relaxation, increase energy flow throughout the body through energetic balance and musculoskeletal alignment.
